Overview


The International Department provides an ‘All-in-One’ services including International Student Recruitment, Admission, Visa Processing and Student Welfare. We look forward to welcoming international students to Newton International College and hope you will have the best experience with us.


International Student Recruitment


The international student recruitment activities are carried out with the assistance and support of a network of independent agent representatives. International students seeking academic advice or choosing to lodge applications through agent representatives may check with the International Department for the current list of official representatives.

    International Student Visa Processing

    International Department also provide assistance for:
  • Application for new student passes (through EMGS)
  • Student pass endorsements
  • Student pass renewals
  • Student pass transfers
  • Student pass cancellations

    International Student Welfare

    The International Department also provides assistance to international student welfare, as well as orientation of new students. Services include:
  • Airport pickups and Immigration clearance
  • Post-arrival medical check-ups
  • Welcome reception for new students
  • Health Insurance claims processing
  • Student welfare and crisis cases
  • Reference letters, verification letters (for banks, embassies, etc.)

Pre Arrival


Incomplete application and international student who did not meet the entry requirement for enrolment cannot be processed. For those who are eligible for enrolment, all application documents and proof of initial payment to be submitted to International Office at least eight (8) weeks before the intake date(s).


The step of pre arrival processes as below


Step 1: Application will be made via EMGS STARS system for visa application. The process approximately will take about 6 – 8 weeks.


Step 2: The College will notify the student once the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) issued by the Immigration of Department Malaysia.


Step 3: Obtain Single Entry Visa (SEV) if required at the Embassy, Consulate or High Commission of Malaysia. If there is no Malaysian diplomatic mission in your country, you may choose to one closest to you.


Step 4: Once you obtain your SEV / MEV, you can arrange your departure to Malaysia. Please be reminded that you are required to fill up the Airport Pickup Form and submitted to us at least 7 working days before your departure date.


Note: Please inform us within 48 hours if any changes of your departure details. There is no airport pickup during Saturdays / Sundays / Public Holidays

Arrival


Students are advised to check all necessary documents before departure to avoid any problems once arrived at KLIA/KLIA2 and during the Immigration clearance process. Checklist of the documents as below;

  • Original copy of VAL, SEV/VDR (for countries that require visa to enter Malaysia)

  • Original passport (at least 18 months validity), you may prepare spare copy of your passport

  • High school / academic certificate, passport size photo with white background

  • Letter of Offer / Conditional Letter of Offer, receipts / proof of payments

  • Sufficient cash (in Malaysia Ringgit – MYR) and important contact numbers


The step of pre arrival processes as below


Step 1: Once arrived, you may contact the College representative and arrange for meeting at designated area.


Step 2: Proceed to Immigration Office with the representative for Immigration clearance. Please ensure that there is a Special Pass stamped in your passport before leaving the Immigration Office.


Step 3: College representative will lead you to Baggage/Luggage Collection Hall. Please check all your luggage before leaving the airport.


Step 4: Once arrive at Newton International College, the representative will bring you to International Department for short briefing and register for new semester and subject registration.


Step 5: International Department will arrange for your medical check-up on the next day. Once your medical check-up is done, hand over your passport and medical check-up slip to International Department. Submission of passport for student pass endorsement to EMGS after your medical result is out.

Application Checklist (International Student)
  • 5 copies of passport size photograph (White background with measurement EXACTLY 35mm x 45mm)
  • Passport copy (All pages and at least 18 months validity)
  • Copy of student’s academic certificates and transcripts (Official English Translations needed if original transcripts not in English)
  • English Language Requirement (PTE/IELTS/TOEFL/CAE/MUET) The minimum requirements are as follows: IELTS 4.0 OR TOEFL (397) OR CAE (160) OR MUET (Band 2)
  • Health Declaration Form
  • Copy of the yellow fever vaccination booklet/card (Student who come from countries which are considered to be at a high risk of yellow fever)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) / Letter of Eligibility (LOE) – if any (NOC if the student from Sudan, college will apply and collect from Embassy of Sudan, LOE if the student from Iran and Oman)
  • Completed Application Form
